Wildflower Project: Living Room

The first room we designed in the Wild Flower Project was the living room. It was full of mismatched furniture, baby gear and needed a little updating from its early 2000’s style. Our goals for this room were to make the design of the room more cohesive, functional for when they entertained and for their kids to sometimes play in, do something with the big blank wall and bring in color. They requested to keep a few pieces of previously owned furniture, their rug and a lamp that we worked into the design.

These clients were willing to do a lot of the hard work themselves and the first thing that had to happen was painting. They painted a fresh coat of white on the walls and stair rail, painted the accent wall (yes, that’s paint!) and filled in the little tv nook with some drywall. Why those were ever a thing I won’t understand. Then we anchored the room with their pre-owned rug and couch, hung some breezy white light filtering curtains, added a coffee table and created two seating areas with small tables.

With a request to have a little bit of toy storage, we utilized their metal drum and added a wooden top that could also be used as a table. Function at its finest!

We pulled colors from the rug to use for the throw pillows and added in plants for an earthy touch.

Our clients eclectic and casual style was fun to work with and helped us create a happy and comfortable esthetic for themselves and their visitors to enjoy!
